Who runs this site

drjlsmith.com is run by Joseph L. Smith, an individual based in Massachusetts, USA ("I", "me"). For any privacy question or request, email contact@drjlsmith.com.

What I collect and why

  • The contact form. When you send a message, the form passes your name, email address, subject and message to me by email. I use them only to reply to you. The website does not store your message.
  • BusinessBook correction reports. These are anonymous: the form sends me the chapter, the problem you describe and an optional reference link, with no name or email address.
  • Visit statistics. I use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count page views. It sets no cookies and does not store your IP address. It records the page, the referring site, your browser type, screen size and approximate country.
  • Server logs. My hosting provider, Hostinger, keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) to run and protect the site.

What I do not do

  • I do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
  • I do not use advertising, tracking pixels or cookies.
  • I do not add you to any mailing list.

Who else handles your data

Only the services that run the site: Hostinger (hosting, the contact form relay and the server logs), my email provider (the messages you send me) and GoatCounter (visit counts). Each processes the data only to provide its service. I may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long I keep it

  • Contact messages: kept as long as needed to reply and follow up, then deleted on request.
  • Visit statistics and server logs: kept for the period set by GoatCounter and Hostinger.

Your choices and rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me to tell you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it: email contact@drjlsmith.com and I will answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, I rely on my legitimate interest in replying to messages and keeping the site secure and working. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is for professionals and students. It is not directed to children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If I change this policy, I will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
